greetings to all,
i am interested in the motivations and strategies of environmental media organizations (EMOs) - broadly defined as organizations that use new and old media technologies to build capacity for addressing environmental issues.
i think EMOs can use new&old media and emerging information and communication technologies (ICTs) to:
a) produce and circulate knowledge and expertise
b) enable intra- and inter-group communication and collaboration, often with individuals and groups not immediately recognized as "activist" (scientists, journalists, people with local knowledge, etc.)
c) develop and deploy innovative protest tactics, sometimes with the hope of gaining attention in the "mainstream" media.
is anyone in this group interested in similar issues? i would love to hear from you. even if the "environment" is not your focus, there are probably many other areas with potential overlap.
