Future Research on Media and the Environment

I am interested in how organizations are using old and new media to build capacity for addressing critical and complex environmental concerns, especially in India and the U.S. What follows is a draft proposal for my research. I would love to link up with scholars, journalists, activists, scientists, etc. that have similar interests and welcome any comments!send me a message if you'd like the .doc paper"Environmental Media Organizations:Leveraging Media Technologies, Practices and Communities in…See More

Media and Social Change

Alot have been written about the role of the media (in its different and various formats) in effecting social change. It is neccessary to do an examination of this role, case studies evaluation, and how success stories may be replicated in different

Even the general network can be put to advantage in a crisis, as was done in the Andamans during the tsunami.I have written on this; is interested , you can have a look at my piece on the same.

Voices, based in Bangalore ( now Bengaluru) in Karanataka has been doing a lot of work using Community Radio. It is headed by Ashis Pal. If you want to know more about the use of ICTs for agriculture and the environment, the best organisation would be Panos, UK. Murali Shanmugavelan, who heads their Information Society division, could help out. He used to run a blog on ICTs on the Panos website. You could perhaps get in touch with him at Panos, London.
