A scientist, by profession, at a national research institution and science communicator by hobby. Background in Physics, Isotope Mass spectrometry, Palaeoclimatology and Radiocarbon dating. Research fields included cosmic ray produced isotopes and their applications to planetary bodies and to Palaeoclimatology. Experimental skills also include Ultra High Vacuum Technology. I have received some recognition for research Iike meteoritical soc. USA- student travel award, Ind. Nat. Sci. Aca.- Young Sci. medal. prize for paper from Ind. Soc. Mass spectrometery).

Experienced in science communication as a science writer (articles, fiction, radio features, documentary scripts, activity guides etc.), poet, anchor, news writer and reader, live commentator (TV, radio and direct) and a popular science speaker.

Also organised many science programmes. Recognition by Vigyan Parishad (Vigyan Vachaspati) and from Science Clubs of Allahabad, Barabanki, Meerut, Deoria, Dehradun and CIMAP (CSIR)- Lucknow, Shivalik College- Punjab.

Have interacted with scientists of many countries in India, France, Germany, Switzerland and USA.

Member, Executive (Bahya Antarangi), Vigyan Parishad, Allahabad. Have been Convener of NCSTC- Network (the biggest Indian neteork of sci. comm. org.) during 2001- 2002, of NCSC- 2003 (the biggest children's science activiy). Was Coordinator of NCSC- 1999, 2000. Coordinated, Sci for School Children during Sci. Congress- 2002 and principal coordinator of Pub. Lect. Science- 2006 at Univ. of Lucknow. Have been member of many sci. programme committeees including Year of Sci. Awareness- 2004 for UP, State Committee for Distance Education by satellite- UP, Organising Committees for MRSI Conference- 2006 and MRSI Workshop- 2007. Have been a judge and resource person for IRIS (by INTEL) and NCSC national fares.

Fellow of Geol. Soc. India and NCSTC- Network. Adviser to several science- based organisations like NCSC- UP, Prithvi Innovations- Lucknow, UDAI-UA and PAHAL, UA.

Hobbies include reading, music (listening to classical and light,playing flute), photography (won several prizes) and sports.

How much can science be 'contaminated' /corrupted to attract more?

Yesterday, I was in a meeting related to promoting science communication in UP (India). It was attended by top central and state govt. functionaries including very senior official from Delhi, a senior bureaucrat, a Vice- chancellor, present and past directors, scientists and science communicators, representtaives of education dept., some teachers and also NGO's.
