Hello,

Actually, I wrote ONE story that involves forests: it is titled Preventing Forest Fires with Tree Power. It is one of my favorite stories. You can see it at a href="http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2008/trees-0923.html>">http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2008/trees-0923.html>;. Please let me know if you would like the contact information for the president of the company that is working on this. Since you are a forestry professional, she might be a great contact for you!

Thanks for the opportunity to share points of view among worldwide colleagues

To tackle the problem of deforestation, first we have to analyze the real roots of its origin. National Forest Management Strategies are designed without having knowledge of the diversity and complexity of diferent contexts and environments at regional or local levels, with different expectations about development; and from other side there are country expectations like extractive industries investments that are overlapping areas for forest productive activities, this is happening because we have no had completed the ordering territory process that gives the mandate where the developing activities must be implemented or not (depending of vocational characteristic of land and the uses of local people for water and natural resources have as priority of their livelihoods).
