Hi all,
Great to be part of this network! Thanks, Dionisia.
I'm a business journalist in Manila, Philippines. I write about the shakers and movers in the business community, and do investigative stories on the bad ones. Lately, I've been looking at the Corporate Social Responsibility trends.
Cheers,
Lala

Libel in Manila

Last March 7, 2006, I was a certified fugitive.

That
Wednesday, I was in Cavite Export Processing Zone doing several
interviews when I received a barrage of text messages warning me not to
go to the office because an arrest warrant was being served arising
from the libel case filed in 2005 by Chavit Singson, a well-known and
influential politician north of Manila. The other respondents were out
chasing a story or moderating a forum. Gemma Bagayaua, our on-line
editor, was in the office… Continue

Love Affairs, Microsoft-style

When I ran across a magazine article entitled, “A Big Windows Cleanup
In Asia,” I was expecting to read something funny. I reckoned it might
have something to do with elaborate efforts to scrub off dirt from the
windowpanes in pollution- and smog-filled Asian cities. But who am I
kidding? I was browsing a May issue of Businessweek Magazine where the
stories have more to do with what influence the financial markets
rather than whether the movers and shakers have clear views from their
swanky corn… Continue

I travelled across the Lala diaries today. I liked it as you write well with simplicity and clarity. Moreover it is lavishly green. Fantastic. Keep in touch whether you r in Manila, or on the net, or someday in Dhaka. Had you ever visited Dhaka?

Hi Lala ,
Apologies for the delay in responding to your request, and now I am back after a loooong gap !

Thanks for being my friend !

Well to begin with a discussion (and I am sure it would sustain for a long time) I would like to share a recent interaction I had during a WBI work shop in New Delhi. We had very informative discussions on knowledge management and its role in sust. devt. I would invite your views from a developing country perspective on the direct use of knowlede as a tool for poverty reduction and environmental sustainabilit, and the role of media and research networks (like the present one) towards achieving the objective. Any previously published works (links to the works) would also be immensely appreciated,
I remain,
gratefully yours,
Yogesh

hi Lala,
Good to meet you and thank you for being a friend. I often write about international situations and it would be really good to swop local information. I will be in touch next time that happens.
Thank you.
regards,
Elisabeth.
