African women:Greatest Climate-change burden bearers

African women face the greatest effect of climate change, according to a report released by the UN. The report states that African women walk for miles across harsh terrain to find clean water sources, planting and harvesting crops through scarcity and drought. Climatic disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, and landslides, can separate families, exposing women to human trafficking, hunger, and loss of life in a matter of moments.

Natural Sweetener Stevia rebaudiana and its compatibility with Bitter Gourd (Momordica charantia) and other anti-diabetic herbs: Pankaj Oudhia on Stevia

Stevia rebaudiana is new plant for India. As natural sweetener it is new to Indian Traditional Healers specially Traditional Diabetes Experts practicing Traditional Medicinal Knowledge since time immemorial. Although Stevia is under promotion as panacea and compatible sweetener with almost all food items and drugs but these claims lack scientific evidences and research references. No one knows the long term positive and negative effects of it specially when taken with other herbs.

Burma must be flexible to achieve peace in Kachin State

Peace talks between Unio n Level Peace Making Committee and KIO was held at Shwelion 4 February (Monday), the state-run New Light of Myanmar said today.

The meeting was attended by a six-member team led by Union Ministers Aung Min and Ohn Myint from Union Level Peace-Making Committee along with a five-member team led by Salang Kaba Sumlut Gam, head of Education department and KIA's vice chief of staff General Sumlut Gum Maw from KIO.

Burma resumes peace talks with KIO in China, along with charter row

The Government of Myanmar (Burma) has welcomed peace gesture proposed in the statement issued by KIO’s Central Committee on February 1, 2013, as per Press Release (6/2013) of its Information Team via the state-run newspapers on 2 February.
