Please introduce yourself....: I am a public health specialist (M.D. in Community Medicine) and am presently working as Registrar in the department of community medicine at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh (India). I am a 43 year old male with interests in community based and operational research in Mental Health and non-communicable diseases. I want to continue teaching and research activities and hope that membership of this network will prove useful in sharing views and opinions of the intelligentia from diverse fields.

As you very well know that all the mess of the kind as indicated is created by our bureaucrats only. While sitting on top they see that all others be let down and respect their supremacy and thats why medial profession is relegated to the present status where doctors are denied even basic facilities sustaining their livelihood. I fail to understand what could really be done to address the situation .
Regarding the pregnancy care of rural women SWASTI shall definitely approach your good self when it takes up the issue in its agenda shortly.

At 2:34am on 18th July 2007, priyesha mishra said…: thanks Dr.Singh for your encouraging comments.Health management in rural India and especially of poor village women is a matter of great concern for SWASTI.Death of a young couple of our working region the other day by snake bite disturbed us badly and it was more shocking that it was not properly handled even by the doctor at PHC of the area.The antivenom therapy was not initiated immediately despite the fact that it was available at the centre.Reason? the doctor was not well trained for such an emergency!And this caused the loss of two precious human lives.Cant this state of affairs be changed ?
