Dear Sir / Madam

I am a development professional with an experience of more than 15 years in the field of livelihood security, conservation of biodiversity, rural development, food security, people’s action for pollution free environmental development, Knowledge management for rural development and demystification of science for people’s development. I am a student of science and did my B. Sc, AMIE-A (an Engineering course), Diploma in Ecology and Environmental Management, Diploma in Customs and Excise Rules & Regulations. I served various NGOs in different leading and important capacities & responsibilities. I also worked as development consultant to some organisations. From 1998 to 2006 for 7 years and 6 months I spent a very good time as the head of a site of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) at Jeypore, Orissa. MSSRF is one of the reputed development research organizations in the field of agriculture and rural development in India. There I was heading the team with a capacity of Sr. Scientist-Site Coordinator and managed this site with team of researchers from various sectors and different age group. My work has increased the food basket of communities and brought recognition for the institutions I served the people of different poor tribal and other communities. This leadership brought recognition of Equator Initiative prize 2002 for the partnership to conserve biodiversity for tribal people of Jeypore. I have been working as resource person or consultant for many organizations in development project planning-monitoring-evaluation, capacity building & training activities, event management, networking, corporate social responsibility activities, conducting developmental and gender studies, advocacy, microfinance, preparation of different databases and analysis of those, Participatory Rural Appraisal and Micro planning, HR Management and so on.

As a researcher and development worker I have done extensive work as a leader in various organizations in the field of Environmental education, conservation of biodiversity, Community Food Security, rural development, HIV/AIDS control in community, Community mobilization and capacity building. This led to introduction of science and technology at grassroots, which not only reduced poverty but also addressed the drudgery in different sectors. I have good contribution in the field of gender studies and gender development, fundraising, proposal preparation for grant making and event management too. I had the privilege of working in the corporate social responsibility (resettlement and rehabilitation of development oustees) sector and spent a good time in studying displacement issues and problems. In this sector my contribution was in designing and monitoring the R & R projects. Writing in regional newspapers, newsletters and magazines on developmental issues and gender has been a passion for me.

Dr. Jayant Narlikar has done very good work in this direction, he has written so many good books on basic science in marathi for school children. they generally distribute it in village schools. Delete Comment

Its bit difficult for me to suggest anything but i think it would be good if newspapers in vernacular languages give more space to sci and tech related news on regular basis and for childrens more and more exposure to science activities will definitely help in generating their interest in science subject.

Dear Ms.Swati Bute
Thanks for the mail. Prof.M.S.Swaminathan taught me so many things. I was the chief of MSSRF, Jeypore from 1998 to 2006. In my career he made a great contribution. Now I am an independent development consultant and trainer on conservation of biodiversity, food & livelihood security and Organic farming. This photo was taken at Soth Africa during WSSD 2002 when our work could win first equator initiative prize recognition.
Regards
Bibhu
