Snakes are beautiful !
I recently visited my native place -a nondescript place in rural eastern UTTAR PRDESH ,India .One day there was a lot of noise,hustle bustle outside my home and when I inquired I found some people were busy in fishing out a snake from its burrow. you were discussing some project to impart basic education to children of poor house maids who do not get primary education as their mothers are not capable to send them to schools. They keep their children with them to assist in the unending works of those houses which they visit.What is progress?
Thanks for your comments and feedback. There are many things which can be done to improve the status and health of the women in our country. The two most important remedies that I perceive is one the more and more involment of NGO's that can deliver and secondly the contribution of media in highlighting the achievements of those who can deliver the goods and healthy criticism of those who cannot.
I will feel myself privileged if I can provide some inputs to the projects being undertaken by SWASTI.

Firstly I thank you very much for responding to my comments.
Secondly I have a suggestion for curtailing the maternal mortality in our country. Approximately 85% of the deliveries are deemed to be normal. Only 15% (though very substantial in terms of absolute numbers in a highly populated country like ours) end up in complications leading to maternal deaths. These high risk pregnancy can be easily identified even by lay people/health workers. If a "high risk approach" is religiously adopted we can very well bring down our maternal mortality rate to meet even the millenium development goals. I would like to know what SWASTI is doing to reduce the maternal mortality and if anything, what I can contribute in the matter being a public health specialist.

It is best perceived by our democratically representates that the doctors who serve in the rural areas donot even require the basic amenties. At the same time people who enjoy political patronage get posted to the best of places where all kinds of facilities including children's eduacation anred governement accommodation a t subsidisesd rates is available. Why can't the state governements assure the residential accomodation and educational facilities to the childrenof doctors and teachers? Can you assisit us in projecting this cause?
I appreciate your endeavours for being part of this network. In any case I am looking for people who can contribute to the enhancement of research activities. I am especially interested in research activities related to health. I hope to look forward to your contribution(s) that you can make. In any case this network, at least to my mind, is meant for intellectuals than people seeking other sorts of pleasures.
