Research on young murderers

Hello all, I'm writing a story about young murderers as the crime rate started to raise in VN together with the rate of economic development. I'm looking for scientific researches about violence among the youth. Is it the result of violent movies, video games and failed education on the youngsters ? By the way, if you are in an emerging country with soaring crime rate, I'd love to hear your opinions about the issue, too. Thank you and best wishes,

The best newspapers for rural areas ?

Rural areas are not an easy market for newspapers, especially in developping countries. I wonder how useful, practical information, like farming techniques, environment, poverty reduction, anti-drug, HIV prevention, etc, can reach people in the countryside ? Do you know any newspaper for rural development ? how they work ?

Hi Thuy, it's not easy to introduce M4P work in a few lines, but why don't you try visit our website at www.markets4poor.org. Some initiatives may be worth your notice like the bamboo initiative or topics discussed in the Markets and Development Bulletin. Hope you find them interesting!

Hello Kim Kierans, it's great to know you. Radio is a popular choice. In Viet Nam, the national TV has a good program on farming as well since TV is very popular in the countryside. But I think it's not enough. As the Internet is still alien to Vietnamese countryside people, I believe newspapers have an edge with radio and TV because of its archival availability. In Viet Nam, the literacy rate is quite high and a large number of rural people can afford low-cost newspapers. Do you know any newspaper success in reaching rural people ? and how they work ?

Hi Thuy,
I agree that rural areas are not an easy market for newspapers because of financial and literacy issues. That is why community radio is often a cheap, accessible way to reach people with this information about farming practices, nutrition and health issues.
