Research and Media Network

Bringing people together to improve communication of research findings

Dear Members,

I've received a letter from the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS).
I think sharing this letter with you is important. Probably many members of this network will be able to contribute in this respect.

Best regards,

Dear Mr Saadi,

The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) has prepared an interactive infographic on Women in Science to highlight UNESCO’s data on the gender gap in higher education and scientific research – the so-called “leaky pipeline”. Although it is primarily an awareness raising tool, we hope it will feed into efforts to advance women in science.

We are sharing it with you in the hope that you would consider sharing the infographic with members of the Bangladesh Science Writers and Journalists Forum. We’d be very grateful if you could help us to promote it by possibly embedding the piece on the forum’s website, promoting it on your social media channels or using it for any relevant articles.

You can have a look at it on our website here:

I’ve taken the liberty of attaching to this message a few resources we developed to help spread the word: a web article, an image, some regional and country data, as well as a set of posts for social media, which can be repurposed as you see fit. The interactive tool, which is available in English, French and Spanish, is lightly branded and designed to be very easy to share or embed.

Please let us know if you think the piece would be of interest to your network. We would be happy to answer any questions about the data.

Many thanks and best regards,
