I am an assitant professor of public policy; currently working and living in Doha. Previously, I was a public servant in the federal government of Canada.
I have done extensive research on intellectual property and pharmaceuticals, have a couple of publications in biotechnology, and have performed research in human resource development. I am especially interested in the political, social and economic challenges facing developing countries, and in building bridges between different cultures.

So I understand you have published papers in biotechnology in the past and now you are with Qatar Foundation. I am interested to know more about your work. What are you dong there? And now that you are back from Canada, are you still working on publishing new papers?
The decision by US District Court Judge Robert Sweet to strike down the two Myriad Genetics genes linked to breast and ovarian cancer is amazing! Hopefully this is a first step toward common sense in the patenting or non-patenting of discoveries as opposed to true inventions. The granting of such patents is ridiculous in the first place and indicative of a society sick for profits. That in itself may require a genetic cure!
