I have been writing on environmental issues since 1984 and have been concentrating on climate change since 2007. Before that, I used to concentrate on biodiversity issues. I have a Masters degree in Environmental Economics & Environmental Management from the University of York (UK) in which my thesis was an analysis of the GEF programme to shift people out of the Ranthmabore tiger reserve in Rajasthan (India).

yes indeed, Rolf Disch' s solar estate (I guess that's another of his names) was designed (by the way, using 100% natural building materials), with a "No-Energy-Model" to use sun light as energy source. These house-complexes have turned out to be an attraction of not only solar tourists, but also a big number of sunlight-impressed house buyers, as they are filled with sunlight throught the year - sommer as well as winter. The colourful estate as such attracted mostly members of the upper middle class, but also some students, who live in 5-6 house blocks. I haven't lived in such a house before so I cannot say much about "life in a solar house". Also my knowledge about the solar energie is very sparse. But in gereal, Freiburg is a very nice and multi-faceted city.
