I am working journalist from Nepal. I have almost 8 years of experience of working in mainstream daily newspaper and magazine continuously writing on conflict, health environment social and developmental issues. My news reporting has circulated in the top print media houses in the country. I worked for the prestigious Himal, fortnightly magazine as well as the largest circulating national daily Kantipur and Samay Weekly.
Now I am project and news coordinator of the online www.kathmandunewsline.com and do independent media research and consultancy.
I have reported on the insurgency in Nepal, the conflict and trauma that was helplessly and stoically borne by the Nepali people. I have extensively covered the news and have done research work on health (especiall focussing on HIV/AIDS), disaster related issues.
I have many articles, reports, a few books as well as audio-visual works to his credit on the issues. I have worked with various international organizations as media research consultant.
Right after my high school graduation exams, I have volunteered to join the team of American medical doctors and Nepali staff on a medical trek in 1994 conducted by Himalayan Health Care (HHC) Inc. The fourteen days of trekking through the remotest of villages north of the capital Kathmandu and working as a translator and assistant to the visiting doctors taught me to help the village patients cope with their health problems.
Since then I have volunteered in organization's need basis and have taken active interest in all the village development campaigns to help the poorest of the poor since 1994 till 1998. Even as a journalist, I have volunteered in my capacity to some of the health and AIDS related organizations in Nepal.
