My education is in environmental sciences, human biology and development studies. I started organising development-related communities of practice in Viet Nam in 1989. It seems that I have never stopped. It must be because of all the nice people I meet.
In the last year I have helped UNAIDS map the activities that many agencies and organisation are doing to fight HIV and AIDS in Viet Nam. You can find our mapping at:

Networks in Viet Nam and the Sub-Region

Our email lists are located at the Australian National University in Canberra.
And also at the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre here in Ha Noi.
All of these lists support development in Viet Nam and the sub-region. You are most welcome to join these networks.

I started as a UNV in viet Nam in 1998 through to 2006. In fact I am still helping them with some things as a UNV 'associate'. Vern

Hi Vern! I need to kill my curiosity.. you seem very familiar but I can't place you. I worked with Agriculture Extension in Hanoi/Hoa Binh 1998-2000 as a UNV, so it's likely that we've met if you were at the UN HQ. Looking forward to hear from you! I'm new to this site and I'm searching for a photo to add , that might help..

Hello Khin and Vern, the initiative sounds good. Please let me know more about how it can work. I think Vietnamese journalists are very interested in food safety now and it would be great if AIT can provide a workshop about it.

Hi Vern, I am very happy that you are concerned about environmental fields in Vietnam. I hope we will have chances to meet and discuss each other. Now, I am Humphrey fellow (Fulbright Program) in the U.S from April 2007 to June 2008. I like to discuss with what you are concerned.

Ni Ni, I would certainly agree with the idea and in encouraging people to come. How about funding? Vern

Hi Thuy, Looks like there are quite a few more good people out there. This network sounds like a very interesting initiative and we should try to get more journalists in - I am thinking mainly about environment and health but probably other fields as well - to join this list. It would be good to have a representation from Indochina. Already this afternoon several people from Viet Nam joined up. Nobody yet from Cambodia or Lao PDR. ;-) Vern
